Medicare Child Dental Benefit Scheme

If you have children between the ages of 2-17, your child may be eligible to receive $1000 worth of dental treatment over a 2 year period under the Medicare Child Dental Benefits Schedule.

Treatments include

  • Dental Exam and X-ray
  • Scale and clean
  • Fluoride treatment
  • Fissure sealants
  • Fillings
  • Pulpotomy/Root canal Treatment
  • Stainless Steel Crown
  • Extractions

**Fissure seals are a type of preventive treatment. This may be recommended if you have deep grooves in your teeth which are difficult to clean and accumulates plaque and bacteria. This involves placing a protective coating in the grooves to protect the tooth from decay.

**Stainless Steel crown is a preformed metal cap which will be placed over a baby or permanent molar tooth to prevent it from future decay. It is indicated when the normal filling is not strong enough to support the remaining tooth structure. When fitted well, this crown provides long lasting strength to the tooth until the baby tooth naturally falls out, or permanent tooth becomes mature enough to receive tooth-coloured crown for better strength.
